History:
My bird is 79-1421, and was built the same day as Cavanugfhs.
It was actually accepted before the Cavannaugh bird based on
its Bu. No. The aircraft is Bu.No. 44126. It was built 08
April 1944, and was accepted by the Navy 10 April 1944. It
spent its whole military service at NAS Glenview, as a
"proficiency aircraft" for the Air Station Staff. It was
"stricken from the records" on 31 December 1945, and
subsequently released as surpluse.
I have a copy of the Navy custody card, courtesy of the
Smithonian Museum;
Oh, by the way, the aircraft is airworthy, and based at D.W.
Hooks airport adjacent to Houston, Texas.
